Today, we’re celebrating International Women’s Day by focussing on some of our fantastic clients with women founders. All of these women proved to be inspirational for our team and built businesses that continue to be innovative and successful.

BoobyBiome

BoobyBiome was founded in 2019 by a team of UCL researchers who were pursuing their doctoral degrees at the time – Lydia Mapstone (Microbiologist and CEO), Sioned Jones (Chemist & Biophysicist and COO ), and Tara O’Driscoll (Neuroscientist & Bioinformatician and CTO). This fantastic team of scientists and female entrepreneurs are seeking to improve babies’ health by creating a supplement that can replicate the health benefits of breast milk.

BoobyBiome currently is developing a clinically designed live biotherapeutic product, composed of the bacterial species present in breastmilk. The team is also working from the Institute of Child’s Health at UCL, and collaborating with top infant microbiologist Dr. Mona Bajaj-Elliott. Find out more about this company on their website.

Byway

Byway was founded in 2020 by Cat Jones. It’s an environmentally-friendly travel tech start-up, that in 2011 gained support of £1.1m in funds from an Innovate UK SMART grant, Founders Factory, and several angel investors. Despite the whole travel sector being shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on travel, Byway has been continuously growing. 

Byway’s mission includes bringing sustainable leisure travel to the mainstream, building a vibrant travel ecosystem away from tourist hotspots, and boosting local economies. The company is building holiday packages focused on slow journeys using environmentally-friendly ways of travel such as boat, train, bus, bike, or on foot. Slick was founded by Stephanie Madgett. This company’s solution includes an all-in-one appointment scheduling, payment processing and automated marketing software for salons & barbers.
